Wednesday  29th July 2020- St. George’s: Upon completion of an extensive food safety system evaluation, Grenada Distillers home of Grenada’s #1 Rum-Clarke’s Court has announced re-certification to the International Organisation for Standards (ISO) 22000:2005 standard, which they have held since 2017.

This globally recognized certification of food safety management system standards is in full support with Clarke’s Court commitment to creating and maintaining quality processes that ensure consistency, visibility, and accountability across our business operations, including, production, and distribution of high quality alcohol products.

As a recognized pioneer and leader in the rum producing industry in Grenada for nearly five decades, Grenada Distillers decided that pursuing ISO 22000:2005 certification was the next fundamental step towards our mission of continuous quality improvement.

The demanding certification and audit process demonstrates our unwavering dedication to providing the highest-quality standards in product manufacturing that meet or surpass our customer’s expectations. This latest accomplishment confirms the Clarke’s Court perseverance towards holistic excellence.

ISO 22000:2005 certification not only attests to our commitment to continual improvement, but also to provide our sales force and distributors with more opportunities to conduct business in the global marketplace.

The requirements stipulated by ISO 22000:2005 are important to Grenada Distiller’s Limited as they provide an internationally recognized framework for ensuring food safety throughout the entire system. This includes choice of suppliers, ingredients, processes, facilities and human resources. The entire GDL team works under the guidelines of the standard to provide our customers with high quality products that are safe to consume, the Quality Control Manager of the company, Malika C Crichton said.

ISO certification is voluntary and compliance must be verified through an independent agency on a regular basis. A yearly audit will be conducted to maintain Grenada’s Distillers certification status, and a more extensive audit will be completed once every three years for certification renewal. Grenada Distillers is currently working towards certification to the revised ISO 22000:2018 standard.

Clarke’s Court received their ISO 22000:2005 certification from an independent, internationally accredited certification company.
