Real Old Men and Veterans

Monday February 13th, 2012 - St. George’s
Grenada: It’s down to crunch-time in
the GFA Clarkes Court/Nixon Electrical
National Masters Football Competition.
And, what
do you know, tournament favorites Real
Old Men and Veterans have advanced to
the big moment. At the National Stadium
yesterday, In the first semi final,
Veterans defeated River Road Legends 5-4
on penalty kicks.
They were
locked one-all at full time.
Cheney
Joseph scored for River Road Legends in
the 55th minute of play and just when
fans thought that the score would remain
at 1-0 then came a superb shot outside
the 18 yard box from defender David
Augustine in the 65th min. who equalized
for Veteran.
In the
other Semi Final match, Real Old Men won
their game against St. Mark's Veterans
one goal to nil. The goal came late in
the second half by Roland Ganness.
Both teams
struggled to settle into a rhythm, with
a tough run of play through a very
competitive first half.
The grand
finale is carded for this Sunday at the
National Stadium. Preceding the final
will feature Women Friendly between the
National Women Team and the St. George’s
University Women Team. |
